Role: Marketing Team Lead (Content & PLG)

Background to OpenOrigins

OpenOrigins is building a global trust layer for the internet’s media content, ensuring we can always tell what is real and what is fake.

As low-cost, highly-convincing synthetic media begins to saturate the internet, it becomes increasingly impossible to discern between what is real and what is fake online, threatening our understanding of reality and facilitating the spread of disinformation. OpenOrigins believes that content provenance is the answer, and that the only solution to provenance is decentralised trust.

We work by securing future content (securing proof of origin in our blockchain for newly captured media), and protecting the past (safeguarding media archives in the same blockchain). We are also exploring the value of licensing our secured, provably-human archives to AI companies for trusted model ingest.

Founded in 2021, we are venture-backed and are preparing to rapidly scale to tackle this growing challenge.

Our co-founders, Mansoor Ahmed-Rengers and Ari Abelson, have deep experience in blockchain, cybersecurity and scaling high-growth startups.

About the role

We're looking for a visionary Marketing Lead to help tell OpenOrigins' story and establish OpenOrigins as a technology leader in the blockchain, digital provenance & authenticity space. You will help refine our brand, position our product, and drive demand generation. You will:

  • Shape our category-defining brand and normalise our identity across all channels.

  • Collaborate with our leadership and sales team to drive our growth & marketing strategy and execution;

  • Own and manage all aspects of our growth marketing, from digital channels to community building / field marketing, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to growing;

  • Collaborate with Product and GTM to position OpenOrigins for market leadership.
    - You’ll build a high-performing marketing team with a collaborative and results-driven culture.
    - You’ll establish KPIs, analyse campaign performance, and provide insights to refine strategies and optimize ROI.

Who are you

You’re ambitious and hard-working, and will succeed at whatever you put your mind to. You make up for any potential lack of experience with intelligence, grit, and a constant growth mindset.

  • You have a strong background in product marketing, especially for sophisticated technical products (blockchain experience is a plus but not a requirement).

  • You’re an outstanding communicator; verbal, written, and when presenting and can easily articulate difficult concepts;

  • You’re entrepreneurial and want to be part of building a business. You want to rise faster or earn more than would be possible in any ‘normal’ career and you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and do whatever’s required;

  • You have hands on experience building a multi-channel demand generation motion: designing and executing successful marketing campaigns with velocity

  • You possess expert knowledge of marketing best practices and have a network of creative, technology, and media partners/vendors to leverage towards the company’s growth goals.

  • You have experience managing agencies and in-house teams, and you can work cross-functionally to drive results. You are comfortable working and solving problems alone and with others;

  • You have a track record of exceptional performance, whether it’s in academia, work, sport, or whatever else you’ve put your mind to;

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • We like to hire on ability, motivation and aptitude rather than only on past experience. Background is important, but it is not enough by itself.

  • What makes you a great fit:

    • You have 3-7 years of experience in a growth, demand generation or marketing role, with a strong foundation in digital & product marketing, and brand building;

    • You have experience in seed-stage start ups, going from 0-$1M revenue;

    • You care deeply about the OpenOrigins mission.
