We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thrives in 0-1 product development, enjoys the fast-paced challenges of scaling startups, and can take full ownership over technical decisions. This role is ideal for someone with strong full-stack development expertise, the ability to architect scalable systems, and a passion for building robust applications from scratch.

 What You’ll Do

• Architect, Build, and Scale – Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications, ensuring high-performance, scalable, and maintainable codebases.

• Ownership of Technical Decisions – Lead the technical strategy for new and existing products, balancing speed and scalability.

• Hands-On Coding & Mentorship – Set high coding standards, contribute actively, expand and improve on standardisations and automated testing procedures, and mentor junior engineers as we grow the team.

• Work Cross-Functionally – Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, go-to-market, the founders, and other stakeholders to define and build OpenOrigins’ key offerings.

• Scalable System Design – Work on database optimisations, microservices architectures, and high-availability systems.

• Blockchain & AI-Provenance (Bonus) – While not required, experience with blockchain technologies (Ethereum, Solana, C2PA) and cryptographic security principles is highly desired. 

What we look for in you:

• 7+ years of experience in both backend and frontend software development

• Mastery of Python, JavaScript, Typescript; experience with C# is highly desired

• Experience designing secure systems, including implementing robust authentication and authorization mechanisms, securing APIs, protecting data at rest and in transit. Experience with cryptographic security principles, identity management, access control, threat modelling, and compliance with security best practices is highly desirable.

• Proven track record of designing, developing, and shipping high-quality, ergonomic client-side libraries and SDKs

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures

• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and caching systems (Redis)

• Solid knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development and integration

• Familiarity with AWS and containerization technologies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an eye for detail and a passion for clear, comprehensive developer documentation

Nice to have:

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, including deploying, monitoring, and optimising applications in AWS-based environments.

• Strong understanding of crypto wallets, including key management, cryptography, and blockchain protocols (e.g. EVM). Familiarity with on-chain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

• Experience with AI or designing AI systems
